EMMY Award winning, TONY nominated choreographer, AC Ciulla has
been an innovative force in the entertainment industry of over 25 years.
He was nominated for the TONY and Outer Critics Circle Awards
for ‘Best Choreography’ for Broadway’s hit musical Footloose and has
choreographed/directed numerous productions both nationally and abroad
including Japan’s pop-star studded production.
Off-Broadway, AC choreographed The Last Smoker In America at the
Westside Theater and was nominated for the prestigious Joe A. Callaway
Award for ‘Outstanding Choreography’ for his work on the production of
Lucky Guy by Willard Beckham. He choreographed the original production
The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin starring LaChanze for
Playwrights Horizons receiving Lucille Lortel and Audelco Award nominations
and Ghetto Superstar starring TONY winner Billy Porter, produced by
George C. Wolf for the Public Theater.
AC choreographed the star studded musical Chess: A Benefit Concert at
the Ford Amphitheater in Los Angeles starring Matthew Morrison.
Regional theater includes Stephen Sondheim’s Being Alive at the
Westport Country Playhouse, Barrio Babies starring Sara Ramirez at
the Denver Theater Center, TheYiddish Coming at the Denver Civic Arts,
The Plexiglass Slipper at Asolo Rep, The Little Mermaid at North Shore
Music Theater and Big River at Sacramento Music Circus.
Vices: A Love Story, a sophisticated exploration of relationships told through
music and dance, garnered AC the 2010 Carbonell Award for Best
Ciulla choreographed the smash hit show Toni Braxton: Revealed for
the Flamingo Las Vegas as well as the six-time Grammy Award winning
recording artist’s celebrated 2006 Libra tour and live 2007 NBA All-star
performance. Other recording artists include live shows for Eden’s Crush
featuring Nicole Scherzinger and videos for Freedom Williams of the dance
sensation C&C Music Factory and Grammy Award winning vocalist Billy
Porter. As creative director/choreographer, AC created a live touring show for
the acapella vocal group Duwende.
Ciulla staged Signed Sealed Delivered-A Musical Celebration of Stevie
Wonder at the Venetian in Las Vegas starring Chaka Khan, Peabo Bryson and
Melissa Manchester. AC directed and choreographed the hit Broadway
musical revue Nights on Broadway II & III for Caesar’s in Atlantic City
featuring many of Broadway’s newest stars.
Film work includes Gray Matters starring Heather Graham and Bridget Moynahan,
Puppet starring Rebecca Gayheart and most recently ‘Love is a Broadway Hit’.
Ciulla won the 2003 EMMY Award for “Outstanding Choreography of a
Television Special” for his innovative work with Olympic figure skating
champions for the world renowned Stars On Ice.
Other television credits include Starr X’d Lovers - a three day, DGA Award
winning musical event on the ABC soap opera One Life To Live and
numerous episodes of Sesame Workshop’s new version of The Electric
Company (PBS) including the series’ opening credits. He choreographed
Viva Variety as well as a music video for comedian Jeffrey Ross on
Comedy Central and several musical comedy bits for Late Night with
He directed and choreographed the 1-800-OK-CABLE Move To Triple Play
dance commercial and has choreographed countless spots including the
famous dancing Intel commercials, Dr. Pepper featuring Travis Wall, AT&T,
NY Lottery, Verizon Droid and the Busby Berkeley style musical E*TRADE
spot which aired as one of the top five commercials during the Super Bowl.
AC received high praise for his contemporary work as a guest choreographer
on So You Think You Can Dance (UA) for three consecutive seasons.
As a performer, AC made his Broadway debut in Starlight Express at age 19.
He was an eight time winner & semi-finalist on Star Search and toured as a
featured soloist with the world renowned Jazz Dance Company Waves.
He toured the US with the dance sensation C&C Music Factory danced on the
MTV Video Music Awards and had the honor of dancing along side of
