Valerie Salgado is a New York based choreographer known for her quirky and innovative style of storytelling through movement. Her contribution as the Assistant Choreographer to Josh Bergasse for the NBC series, SMASH, led to an Emmy award for best choreography in 2012. More recently, she worked along side Josh Prince and Sheryl Kaller, bringing to life Disney's Frozen for Disney Cruise Line. She was the Associate choreographer throughout the entire process as well as the dance captain and swing for the inaugural cast. As an Associate choreographer, Valerie has been a collaborator working off-Broadway on Bunty Berman Presents, creating new works for The Choreographic Institute (New York City Ballet), and developing the 2013 lab of the Broadway bound production of Bull Durham.
Regionally, Valerie has choreographed productions of Footloose and Hairspray at Jenny Wiley Theatre as well as This Magic Moment for Transcendence Theatre Company. In NYC she was the choreographer for the original musical, Helen on 86th st premiering at the Chernuchin Theatre and created a new work for Broadway Dance Lab Connect (mentored by Kelly Devine).
